Default playing guild wars on more than one pc

hello

i am going on a vacation in a few days, and i am wondering if i can take the guild wars disc and install it on the pc where i am going.

currently i am living in canada and i am going to germany, so would there be any problems?

also, i bought the guild wars trilogy and then eotn seperate, would i have to take both discs (trilogy+eotn) or would only the trilogy cd be enough

thanks

yea the thing you buy when your buying GW is the account. you can get the download the start up info(like to get your email pass and stuff to go on your account).
The only problem you can run into is if anet suddenly sees the account's ip going from canada to germany. that kinda sets off red flags for them.
but yea just install the game, put in your account info and your set.

It's fine to do that. Only the account matters. The discs are only really for people who have slow internet or capped internet and don't want to download from the client, which is basically the same thing.

I suggest taking a copy of your game files esp the large DAT file, you should be able to get it on a dvd or flash drive.

Take the whole game folder its usually in the program files folder then copy it to the new computer.

This will save you a huge amount of time installing or downloading.

This is how I put GW on my present pc When I double clicked on the game exe file it put all the information into the registry set up the game folders etc.

One thing that I did when I went to France for a month was that I emailed support just to ask how to handle the sudden Ip Change. They simply asked me to supply them with 1 of the serial codes from the acc to verify that it was in fact my acc and then I told them how long I would be there for and yada yada. Email them if your staying longer yada yada. That way if for some reason your acc stays on that ip in germany or wherever they will then know that you either sold it or it got stolen and can be sorted out. It will save you future headaches.

As Missmelady said, notifiy support about the trip. If they see a sudden IP change, they might block the account believing it to have been hacked. By the time you cleared up the problem, your trip might be over.

To make installs easy, just copy your GW folder (and your templates which in Vista are under Documents/Guild Wars) to a flash drive or CD. When you reach your destination, just copy the files to the appropriate places on the new PC and double click on gw.exe. This will install the game on the new computer.

All your character information is on ArenaNet's servers. You just need to re-install the game, log in and play. You don't need the game disks.

Humour me - why are you taking the game with you on holiday? Personally I'd leave it home where it should belong. I've never been to Germany but I bet there will be more then enough to keep you occupied. You might as well stay in Canada if all you're going to do is play GW. :s

No offence, just seems a little odd to me..

No offence, but it's none of your damn business why the guy wants to play GW in Germany.

@OP - as has been said, there is no problem with installing GW on another computer (other than the possible IP thing)
There are three main ways to do it.
1. You can either copy the whole game from your computer and paste it on the other one. If you have Vista or Win7, don't forget the Templates in My Documents. You'll need a DVD-R or 4gig (or more) USB drive to do that.
2. You can install it from the Trilogy CD. You wouldn't specifically need the EotN disc as any content can be downloaded as you go. I would suggest you take a copy of the CD(s) instead of the original. It's ok to copy the disk, since the account key is what matters.
3. You can download the client from guildwars.com and do an "-image" to install the rest. (Long, while-you-sleep or while-you sightsee, download)

Just fyi, you're not downloading from the client, you're downloading the client. The client is the program you use to connect to Anet's server.

If you do just remember to change your passwords as soon as you get home, because as it is not your PC it could have any number of hidden programs that you are not aware of. Just a thought!

For me i would not bother taking it at all and i would enjoy my holiday in another country, coming back to GW completely refreshed and ready for some serious playtime. But then thats me.
